"It is curious to look back and realize upon what trivial and apparently coincidental circumstances great events frequently turn as easily and naturally as a door on its hinges." -H. Rider Haggard Haggard could not have been more on the money with that quote about fate when it comes to the history of MAVEN. For if it wasn’t for the natural way fate brings the world together, not a single one of us would have been blessed to hear MAVEN’s sound. Depending on which member in the band you ask, the story of MAVEN has different origins. I hope I do not offend, or do injustice to it in the eyes of any member. Nick Clevenger, lead singer and guitar, grew up in a single mother household with four other brothers. Surrounded by struggles, conflicts, and challenges, Nick found release through writing poems and song lyrics to pass the time. This allowed him to sharpen his awareness, and view of the world around him. Guitar first came into his life after a cousin’s sudden, and accidental death. With guitar and songs in hand, Nick joined his first group “Fixed Income” in 2003. It was only a matter of months before Nick met other members of what would become known today as MAVEN. Sam Kern Jr., lead guitar, was born Chad Kern in Sacramento, CA. He took on the stage name in honor of his father Sam Kern, a great guitarist who Chad idolizes still to this day in memory. Sam joined his first band in seventh grade. In the likeness of many of the masters before him, Sam used to lock himself in his room to hone in his unique style of guitar. He brought with him is fusion of metal, classic rock and blues into the group “Sinfest” in the year 2000. Fast forward a few years, he and Sinfest’s bass player Outlaw joined up with Nick in forming MAVEN. Chris "Outlaw" Beardsley, bass, started playing when he was only ten years old. He played in his first show at fourteen. Raised in a musically inclined family he quickly discovered his powerful bass playing skills. He rocked the Bay area as a member of a band called “Ice” at the age of twenty-one. Within the first few years they gained a big German underground following as well as Bay area madness. He moved to Sacramento and joined Sam Kern Jr. to form Sinfest. Thrilled with the new addition of Nick Clevenger, he proved himself “untouchable”, as the bassist of MAVEN. Jeff "Fullblast" Muljat, drums, is the experienced backbone of Maven's sound. Born and raised in Sacramento California, his musical career first ignited in the Bay area. Over the span of twenty years he has played and studied with numerous bands and musicians. Some of which include Leonard Haze of “Y&T”, and Hunt Sales of “Tin Machine”, and he even experienced being on the road with Ronnie Montrose. Moving back to Sacramento he played with a band called “Purefire” for two and a half years. Then graciously accepted the invitation and shines as the creative percussions in MAVEN. FOUR MEN, ONE SOUND, AND A RELENTLESS DRIVE ACHIEVEING THEIR DREAM
All of this is what is written about MAVEN on http://www.Garageband.com/artist/mavenrocks. But it is not the whole story. When I met Sam Kern Jr. I was immediately impressed with his guitar skills and wanted to record  his songs. So I asked him to come down to my studio, which at the time was Benny Rude Studio located in a large storage area at a strorage facility. He accepted my offer of recording him in exchange for helping me complete the construction of the studio. He and I worked together very well and I introduced him to the band "Panhed". At the time they needed a singer and he was more than ready to meet the challenge as well as put together a solo project with the help of the guys in Panhed, one of  whom was the one and only Outlaw. Outlaw and Kern became fast friends and two musical peas in a pod. Outlaw also played bass guitar on Kern's solo project known as "Dirty White Finger". After that they formed "Sinfest" and have been rolling ever since.
When I first met the Outlaw he was'nt in a band but he was keeping up his practice and let me listen to his former band from Sonoma, CA, called "Ice".  Well needless to say I was impressed and shortly afterwards I brought him to meet a friend of mine whos band had recently broke up and who wanted to put together another project. The result was Panhed and Outlaw flourished with the musical comraderie of seasoned professionals. His writing and playing skills have only sharpened since then and I know that he is a Bass GOD.
